I showed up to a women's retreat with a bag full of oils. I always do. It's just part of how I move through the world.
The weekend was about untethering, unleashing, and stepping into true selves. Releasing what the body had been quietly holding through somatic work, emotional release, all while connected in sisterhood. I didn't arrive with a plan for the oils. I just did what I always do: reached for whatever felt right in the moment.
I reached for Surrender when something needed releasing. Awaken when I felt the edges of something new. Release when my mind couldn't access what my body already knew.
Somewhere in the middle of that weekend, it hit me. I've been using oils to support emotional and spiritual work for years without consciously naming it. It was so second nature I'd nearly missed it entirely.
So let me name it now.
The oils work differently than most people expect. They help you get to the place inside yourself where the actual work happens — faster and with less force.
Have you ever tried to go somewhere emotionally and just couldn't get there? Like the door existed but wouldn't open? That's where the oils meet you. They help hold what's on the other side — the comfortable and the uncomfortable both — long enough for something to shift.
At the retreat, I watched this happen in real time. During one of our breathwork sessions, a woman who'd described herself as "not an emotional person" reached over and asked what I was using. I handed her the Release blend. Within a few minutes, tears she'd been carrying for months found their way out. The oil didn't make her cry. It simply made it safe for what was already there to move.
They're living, energetic expressions. When combined with conscious intention, they can catalyze some of the most profound shifts I've witnessed — in myself and in the people I've worked with over the years.
This is what I mean when I talk about frequency medicine. Not a trend. Not aromatherapy in the spa sense. A genuine tool for inner work.
You already know the territory I'm speaking of. The place inside you that holds onto things longer than you'd like. The emotion that surfaces at inconvenient times. The pattern you've named a hundred times but haven't quite been able to move. The version of yourself you can feel on the other side of something but can't quite reach.
The oils don't take you there. But they can make the journey less of a battle.
That's where I've been using oils for years. And that's what I'm here to share.
One thing I'd be remiss not to say: quality matters enormously here. Synthetic oils, diluted blends, cheap substitutes won't do what I'm describing. I've spent years researching and testing, and there are very few brands I'd stake my name on. Young Living has been my primary choice for over a decade. If you're ready to explore, you can find what I recommend HERE.
And if you're curious about going deeper — using oils intentionally alongside somatic work, emotional release, or spiritual practice - then let me know in the comments as I'll continue to write and share about that here. I'd love for you to stick around.
